Man Overboard is an American pop punk band hailing from Mt. Laurel and Williamstown, New Jersey, that became prominent in the early 2010s. The group was formed in 2008 by childhood friends Nik Bruzzese (vocals/bass) and Wayne Wildrick (guitar/vocals), who were later joined by Zac Eisenstein (vocals/guitar) and Justin Collier (drums). The name Man Overboard was inspired by a song from Blink-182, which is often cited as an influence on the band's sound—melding catchy hooks, emotive lyrics, and the youthful energy characteristic of pop punk music.
Throughout their career, Man Overboard has been consistent in their output, staying true to their genre while also showing progression in their artistry. Their mantra, "Defend Pop Punk," which has appeared on merchandise and album art, embodies their commitment to the genre and has resonated with a dedicated fanbase. The band's self-titled album as well as "Heart Attack," released in 2011 and 2013 respectively, received critical acclaim and solidified their reputation in the punk community. After announcing a hiatus in 2015, the band members' focus turned to individual projects, only to reunite in 2018 for anniversary shows and a continuation of their legacy. With a discography that includes full-length albums, EPs, and splits like "Senses Fail Split" and "Passing Ends," Man Overboard has created a robust catalog that's reflective of their passion and contribution to the pop punk scene.
