Linea Aspera is a synthpop duo that emerged in the early 2010s, captivating audiences with their darkly melodic brand of electronic music that pays homage to the sounds of the '80s new wave while infusing contemporary minimal wave influences. The duo, consisting of Alison Lewis (a.k.a. Zoè Zanias) and Ryan Ambridge (Synths & Production), formed in London and quickly made a mark with their self-titled debut album "Linea Aspera" in 2012, which showcased their ability to blend brooding lyrics with compelling, danceable beats.
After gaining a dedicated following with their initial releases and engaging live performances, Linea Aspera went on hiatus, allowing its members to explore other musical projects. However, the reunion of fans' dreams occurred, and in 2020 they released "Linea Aspera LP II," a testament to their enduring chemistry and the evolution of their sound. This sophomore album, accompanied by a collection of earlier unreleased tracks titled "Preservation Bias," presents a matured sense of composition, wherein emotive vocality intertwines with intricate synthesizer patterns, reaffirming Linea Aspera's esteemed position in the modern synth and electronic music scene.
