Slag Queens

Slag Queens are a four-piece post-punk band from Tasmania, known for their dynamic sound that blends elements of punk, indie rock, and new wave. Formed in mid-2015 by lyricist and bassist Lucinda Shannon and drummer Claire Johnston, the band quickly established themselves in Hobart's vibrant underground music scene. They have played alongside notable bands like The Native Cats and A. Swayze and the Ghosts. Their debut album, *You Can’t Go Out Like That*, released in 2018, received significant attention, with the single "Waterfall" topping the AMRAP Metro Charts. The band's music often explores themes of feminism and personal relationships, with Shannon's unique vocal delivery and lyrical perspective being central to their style.

Slag Queens have undergone lineup changes, with guitarist Amber Perez-Wright and electronic noise artist Wesley Miles joining the group in 2019. This evolution has brought new flavors to their sound, which they continue to develop collaboratively. The band has performed at prominent festivals such as Mona Foma and Dark Mofo, and they won the 2020 National Live Music Award for 'Tasmanian Live Act of the Year'. Currently based in Hobart, Slag Queens are focused on writing and recording new material, building on their previous successes like "Favours," "Honey," and "Dogs."
