Brecon Baroque

Brecon Baroque is an acclaimed Baroque ensemble known for its dynamic interpretations and impeccable performances of both well-known and more obscure pieces from the Baroque era. Founded by the accomplished violinist Rachel Podger, one of the preeminent baroque violinists of our time, the ensemble has gained international recognition for bringing fresh perspectives and historical insight to the works they perform. Based in Brecon, Wales, the group was formed in 2007 and quickly became associated with the Brecon Baroque Festival, which Podger serves as artistic director.

The group's recent releases showcase their breadth and expertise within the Baroque repertoire. With albums like "Bach: Goldberg Variations Reimagined," Brecon Baroque has ventured into creative arrangements, offering a new take on Bach's timeless masterpieces, while their recordings of Vivaldi's "Le Quattro Stagioni" and "L'Estro Armonico" demonstrate their agility and passion for Italian Baroque music. Their attention to authentic performance practice, coupled with a spirited and nuanced style, has positioned Brecon Baroque as a leading voice in the world of period-instrument ensembles, delighting audiences and critics alike with their recordings and live performances.
