Smash Palace

Smash Palace is a melodic rock band formed by brothers Stephen and Brian Butler, who emerged from the vibrant Philadelphia music scene in the 1980s. Known for their jangly guitars, rich harmonies, and catchy hooks, Smash Palace built a loyal following with their self-titled debut album released on Epic Records in 1985. Prior to forming the band, the Butler brothers had been part of another notable act, Quincy, which later evolved into Lulu Temple. Their sound blends elements of classic British Invasion influences with American power pop, drawing comparisons to bands like The Beatles and The Byrds.

After some time away from the spotlight, Smash Palace reemerged in the early 2000s with a renewed energy and a string of independently released albums. Their recent work, including albums like 87, Do It Again, and Some Kind of Magic, showcases the band's enduring knack for memorable songwriting and tight musicianship. Despite the changes in the music industry over the decades, Smash Palace continues to earn praise from critics and fans alike for staying true to their melodic, guitar-driven roots.
