Martin Mumelter is a renowned violinist known for his extensive work in both classical and new music. Born and raised in Innsbruck, he studied violin at the Music School of the City of Innsbruck and later in Philadelphia. Mumelter has performed with numerous prestigious orchestras, including the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Wiener Symphoniker, and the Staatskapelle Berlin. He has also been a part of significant festivals like the Bregenzer Festspiele and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Mumelter received notable awards, such as the Critics’ Choice Award at the Musik-Biennale Berlin and the Gaudeamus Competition for New Music in Rotterdam. He was a professor of violin at the Mozarteum University Salzburg until his retirement in 2016 and was also involved in teaching new music performance techniques.
In addition to his musical career, Mumelter has explored other creative fields. He has written audio dramas and novels, with his first novel "Spiegelfuge" published in 2015. His literary work often reflects his multifaceted background in music and literature. Mumelter's recent releases include collaborations on albums such as "Adriana Hölszky: Concertos" and works by Olivier Messiaen and Richard Dünser. His contributions to the music world span both performance and education, making him a respected figure in the classical music scene.
