The Phantom Four

The Phantom Four is an instrumental surf band hailing from Amsterdam, Netherlands, formed in 2004 by Phantom Frank (Frank Gerritsen), who was previously the mastermind behind the influential surf band The Treble Spankers. After The Treble Spankers disbanded due to Frank’s physical problems, he teamed up with Marc de Regt, Marnix Krabbendam, and Niels Jansen to create The Phantom Four. The band is known for blending classic surf guitar sounds with diverse influences including psychedelic cumbia, 70s afrobeat, and Middle Eastern folk music, crafting a unique and worldly instrumental style. They gained attention early on by releasing a live recording of their debut show without any post-production, showcasing their raw energy and spontaneity.

Over the years, The Phantom Four has established itself as a leading instrumental group, with a rich discography including releases like *Sounds From The Obscure*, *Morgana*, and *Settle Down EP*, and a reputation for captivating live performances. Their music is appreciated by surf music fans and those who enjoy a blend of exotic and psychedelic influences, making them stand out in the contemporary surf and instrumental scene.
