Huguette Tourangeau

Huguette Tourangeau was a Canadian mezzo-soprano known for her warm, expressive voice and dynamic stage presence. Born in 1938 in Montreal, she studied at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec and gained international recognition for her performances in both opera and concert settings. Tourangeau was particularly noted for her collaborations with soprano Joan Sutherland and conductor Richard Bonynge, often performing in French opera roles by composers like Massenet and Meyerbeer. Her rich mezzo voice and dramatic artistry made her a standout in roles such as Charlotte in *Werther* and Urbain in *Les Huguenots*. With a career spanning several decades, she left a lasting impression on the opera world before passing away in 2018.
