Heilung is an experimental folk band formed in 2014 that straddles the lines of past and present, conjuring the visceral sounds and imagery of ancient times through their music. The band consists of members Kai Uwe Faust, a tattoo artist specializing in Old Norse tattoos; Christopher Juul of the band Euzen; and Maria Franz of the band Songleikr. Their name, Heilung, translates to 'healing' in German, reflecting the group's conceptual vision of channeling emotional and spiritual restoration through their work.

Heilung's soundscape is a rich tapestry of haunting vocals, shamanic chanting, and a plethora of percussion instruments derived from natural materials such as bones, stones, and metal. Their music is deeply entwined with themes of Norse history, mythology, and sorcery, intended to connect the listener to a time when humanity lived much closer to nature. With releases such as 'Futha' and 'Ofnir', their debut studio album, the band has crafted an auditory journey that is both tribal and meditative. Their performances, encapsulated in the live album and film 'Lifa', are transformative experiences, where elaborate costumes and ritualistic stagecraft elevate their concerts into something akin to a spiritual ceremony from a forgotten age.
