Golpes Bajos were a Spanish pop and new wave band that emerged in the early 1980s, known for their sophisticated sound and introspective lyrics. Formed in Vigo, Galicia, the group originally featured frontman Germán Coppini and multi-instrumentalist Teo Cardalda, who were later joined by Pablo Novoa and Luis García. Their style combined elements of post-punk, synth-pop, and funk, helping to define the sound of Spain’s “Movida Madrileña” countercultural movement.
Hits like "No Mires a los Ojos de la Gente" and "Malos Tiempos para la Lírica" showcased their moody, atmospheric aesthetic and poetic lyricism. Although their career was relatively short-lived — they disbanded midway through the 1980s — Golpes Bajos made a lasting impact on Spanish pop music, influencing generations of musicians with their avant-garde approach and emotional depth.
