**Akhlys** is the atmospheric black metal project kicked off in 2009 by **Naas Alcameth** (real name Kyle Earl Spanswick), the creative force behind bands like Nightbringer, Aoratos, and Bestia Arcana, hailing from Lakewood, Colorado. It started as a chilling dark ambient outlet for those weird visions and trips in the hazy space between sleep and wakefulness—think debut album *Supplication* in 2009—before evolving into haunting black metal with releases like *The Dreaming I* (2015), the nightmare-fueled *Melinoë* (2020), and recent bangers *House of the Black Geminus* (2024) and *Maze of Phobetor* (2024).

Naas drew inspiration from his dad's classic rock vibes like Black Sabbath and early crushes on Metallica, punk, and death metal in his teens, but black metal grabbed his soul for good by the mid-'90s, leading to early bands like Excommunion before Nightbringer and now Akhlys' occult dream-daemon sound. The project's all about plunging into subconscious horrors, with Naas handling most instruments and vocals, occasionally teaming up with folks like Nox Corvus for live shows.
