Born in 1902, he became known for his rich, expressive voice and dramatic flair in roles like Scarpia (*Tosca*) and Marcello (*La Bohème*). His career peaked in the 1930s-40s, with performances at major houses like La Scala and a standout appearance in the iconic 1938 recording of Puccini’s *La Bohème* alongside legends like Beniamino Gigli. Poli’s interpretations of Verdi and verismo operas left a lasting mark, preserved in historical releases like the *Lebendige Vergangenheit* series. He passed away in 1988, leaving a legacy etched into opera’s storied past.
