Elio Revé Y Su Charangón

Elio Revé y su Charangón is a seminal Cuban orchestra with a storied history deeply rooted in the evolution of Latin music. Founded by Elio Revé Matos in 1956, the group has long been regarded as a pioneer in the development of changüí, a genre that originated in the mountainous region of Guantanamo and is an ancestor of son montuno and hence, salsa. Revé, known as "The Father of Changüí," was instrumental in introducing and popularizing this rural sound in the urban music scene of Havana.

After the death of Elio Revé Matos in 1997, his son, Elito Revé, took over the leadership of the orchestra and has continued to evolve their sound, seamlessly fusing elements of contemporary genres with traditional Cuban rhythms. The band is known for its vibrant and energetic performances, characterized by complex arrangements and insistent rhythms that invigorate the dance floors. Their releases like "Papá Eleguá (Remasterizado)" and "Mi Salsa" showcase their ability to refresh their sound while staying true to the rich musical legacy of their roots. Over the years, Elio Revé y su Charangón has been instrumental in nurturing and launching the careers of many notable Cuban musicians and continues to be a touchstone for aficionados of authentic Cuban music worldwide.
