Benny Rogers was an American country music artist and session musician. Born on January 16, 1939, in Shreveport, Louisiana, Rogers was best known as a member of The First Edition, a band he formed with his siblings and friends. The group had a number one hit with "Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)" in 1968.
As a solo artist, Rogers released several albums and singles, but he is perhaps more notable for his work as a session musician and his association with The First Edition. The band's eclectic sound blended rock, country, and folk, and they had several other hits throughout the late 1960s and early 1970s. Benny Rogers passed away on November 7, 2020, at the age of 81, but his music continues to be enjoyed by fans of classic rock and country.
