Cindytalk

Cindytalk is the long-running experimental music project spearheaded by Scottish artist Gordon Sharp, emerging from the post-punk scene in the early 1980s. Initially rooted in raw, atmospheric post-punk with Sharp's haunting vocals at the forefront (he’d previously lent his voice to Cocteau Twins’ early work), the project gradually evolved into abstract soundscapes blending industrial textures, ambient noise, and improvisational electronics. Over decades, Cindytalk has remained fiercely independent, with Sharp collaborating with rotating musicians and sound artists to craft albums that feel like weather systems—unpredictable, immersive, and emotionally charged.

Recent releases like *The Crackle of My Soul* and *Hold Everything Dear* showcase their signature fusion of fractured piano melodies, field recordings, and glitchy dissonance, while collaborations (like *Cindytalk & Philippe Petit*) highlight their affinity for spontaneous, genre-defying experimentation. Though often shrouded in mystery, Cindytalk’s work feels like a secret diary of sonic exploration, balancing beauty and decay across four decades of boundary-pushing music.
