Anaal Nathrakh

Anaal Nathrakh is a British extreme metal band formed in 1999 by multi-instrumentalist Mick Kenney and vocalist Dave Hunt. The band's name derives from Merlin's charm of making in the movie "Excalibur" and translates to 'Serpent's Breath.' Renowned for their ferocious sound that combines elements of black metal, industrial, grindcore, and death metal, they create a brutal and chaotic soundscape underscored by philosophical and misanthropic themes. Anaal Nathrakh's music is distinguished by its intensity, and the group has become synonymous with the more experimental and boundary-pushing side of extreme metal.

Over the years, the band has consistently pushed the envelope in terms of extremity and aggression. With their 2020 release, "Endarkenment," Anaal Nathrakh continued to delve into the darker aspects of the human condition, exploring themes of nihilism and the collapse of civilization. Their music is as confrontational lyrically as it is musically, with releases like "A New Kind of Horror" and "The Whole of the Law" serving as cathartic expressions of the bleakness they perceive in the world. Despite their ominous sound, Anaal Nathrakh has garnered a loyal following for their unwavering dedication to their artistic vision and their ability to create some of the most challenging and innovative music in the extreme metal genre.
