Regina Music Box

The Regina Music Box was not a musician or band, but rather a mechanical musical instrument produced by the Regina Company in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Founded in 1892 in New Jersey, the Regina Company manufactured music boxes that played interchangeable metal discs, becoming a market leader with up to 90% share at its peak. The Regina music box was known for its rich tone and used a double set of tuned teeth. As phonographs grew in popularity, Regina attempted to adapt by creating hybrid machines like the Reginaphone that could play both music box discs and phonograph records. However, the company ultimately went bankrupt in 1922 as recorded music technology advanced.
