Marc Andreae is a Swiss conductor, born on November 8, 1939, in Zurich. He studied piano and conducting at the Zurich Conservatory and graduated in 1962. Following his graduation, he furthered his studies with Nadia Boulanger in Paris and later with Ferrara at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome and the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena until 1968. Andreae comes from a musical family; his grandfather is Volkmar Andreae, a renowned Swiss composer and conductor. As a conductor, Marc Andreae has been involved with various orchestras, including the Orchestre Pro Arte in Zurich and the Orchestra della Radiotelevisione della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano, where he served as chief conductor from 1969 to 1990. His recent recordings include works by Rossini, Schubert, and Andreae's grandfather, highlighting his dedication to preserving classical music heritage.
