Trevell Gerald Coleman, better known by his stage name G. Dep (short for "Ghetto Dependent"), is an American rapper from Harlem, New York City. He rose to fame in the late 1990s as a signee to Sean Combs's Bad Boy Records. Born on November 19, 1973, G. Dep gained recognition for his lyrical storytelling abilities and his smooth, relaxed flow, which contributed to the sound that defined East Coast hip-hop at the turn of the millennium.
G. Dep's debut album, "Child of the Ghetto," was released in 2001 and featured the single "Let's Get It," which also had performances from P. Diddy and Black Rob. This track became one of his most well-known songs, with the "Special Delivery" remix further cementing his place in hip-hop. Although his initial momentum was promising, his career was overshadowed by legal troubles and personal issues. Despite this, G. Dep's influence and the nostalgic power of his music saw a remastering of an earlier work in "Head Over Wheels," and he retained a devoted fan base through releases such as "Ghetto Legend" and "The Hiatus Deponomics." His story serves as a complex narrative of talent, fame, and the struggles that often accompany life in the limelight.
