Viraj Amar is a talented Hindustani classical vocalist known for her incredible range and depth in music. She has been guided by illustrious gurus such as Pandit Vilasrao Khandekar of the Gwalior gharana and Pandit Rajan-Sajan Mishra of the Banaras gharana. Viraj's musical journey began early, with sitar lessons at the age of eight and vocal training at ten. Her impressive achievements include winning the prestigious Pandit Omkarnath Thakur Trophy in both instrumental and vocal music. She is an 'A' grade artist on All India Radio and Doordarshan, having performed extensively across India and internationally. In addition to her music career, Viraj holds academic honors in biochemistry and life sciences.
Viraj has performed at numerous esteemed venues, including the National Center of Performing Arts in Mumbai and the Saptak Music Festival in Ahmedabad. She has also been invited to perform abroad, such as at the Indo-Soviet Festival in Russia and Otemon Gakuin University in Japan. Her dedication to Hindustani classical music is evident in her numerous solo albums and her role as the head of the performing arts department at Gujarat University.
