Peter Hook is an English bassist and musician best known as a founding member of two of Manchester’s most iconic bands: Joy Division and New Order. With his distinctive melodic, high-register bass playing, Hook helped define the sound of post-punk in the late 1970s and synth-pop in the '80s. Joy Division’s haunting, atmospheric tracks like "Love Will Tear Us Apart" became influential touchstones, and after the death of lead singer Ian Curtis, the remaining members—including Hook—formed New Order, blending rock with dance and electronic music to groundbreaking effect.
Beyond his work with those legendary groups, Peter Hook has continued to perform and record music, notably with his band Peter Hook & The Light. Through this project, he’s revisited the catalogs of both Joy Division and New Order in live performances, bringing the music to new generations of fans. He's also been involved in various solo and collaborative efforts, further cementing his legacy as a pivotal figure in modern music history.
