The Bechtler Ensemble is a Charlotte-based music group led by cellist and artistic director Tanja Bechtler. With a rich background that includes a Bachelor’s from the North Carolina School of the Arts and a Master’s from Manhattan School of Music, Tanja has performed widely—from Lincoln Center to the Charlotte Symphony—and founded the ensemble with a mission to inspire through a mix of contemporary and classical music. The group is known for its polished performances, often intertwining music with poetry, and regularly appears at museums, educational venues, and special events around Charlotte and beyond.
Notably, the ensemble has released albums such as *Imagine a World of Harmony* (2021) and *Reflections on the Firebird* (2017), reflecting their dedication to new music and community engagement. Tanja also leads educational outreach through the Carolina Composers Collective, promoting fresh compositions inspired by modern art. The group received the Irene Blair Honeycutt Legacy Award from Central Piedmont Community College in 2022 for their Poetry and Music events, underlining their impact in the arts and local culture scene.
