Georges Guillard is a renowned French organist, born on May 19, 1939. He is best known for his tenure as the organist at the Notre-Dame-des-Blancs-Manteaux church in Paris, where he was associated with the Great Organ for many years. Guillard has also been involved with the Église Saint-Louis-en-l'Île in Paris. He is a Doctor of Musicology and has been involved with the Conservatoire National de Région de Paris, where he focused on early music. Guillard is a prolific performer and has appeared at numerous festivals, including the Festival d'Art Sacré in Paris. He has also been involved with Radio France, producing organ music series and has been a regular guest on the station.
Guillard's repertoire includes a deep interest in European baroque and classical music, reflected in his extensive performances and recordings. He is known for his interpretations of Bach's works, notably launching a complete cycle of Bach's Cantatas at the Notre-Dame-des-Blancs-Manteaux church. His recordings include significant contributions such as the organ works of G.A. Homilius and the complete vocal and instrumental works of Jehan Alain. Guillard's achievements in music have been recognized with awards, including the Orphée d’Or from the Académie du Disque Lyrique.
