Aidan Moffat

Aidan Moffat, a prominent figure in the Scottish music scene, is best known for his candid, poetic lyricism and contributions to indie rock and folk traditions. Born on April 10, 1973, in Falkirk, Scotland, Moffat rose to prominence in the mid-1990s as one half of the cult-favorite indie band Arab Strap, alongside Malcolm Middleton. Arab Strap's songs, characterized by Moffat's frank and often explicit storytelling wrapped in lo-fi soundscapes, garnered a dedicated following and left an indelible mark on the UK's indie music landscape.

After Arab Strap disbanded in 2006, Moffat's solo career continued to thrive through a diverse array of projects that showcased his versatility as an artist. His album "Everything's Getting Older," created in collaboration with Bill Wells, was released in 2011 and won the inaugural Scottish Album of the Year Award, solidifying Moffat's stature as a leading figure in contemporary Scottish music. He then proceeded to release a series of critically acclaimed works such as "The Most Important Place In The World" with Bill Wells in 2015, and a notable solo venture with the striking, ambient-infused album "Where You're Meant to Be" in 2016. Moffat's recent works, like the hauntingly festive "Ghost Stories for Christmas" (2018) and the ambitious collaboration "Here Lies the Body" (2018) with RM Hubbert, continue to demonstrate his ability to evolve and adapt, while still maintaining the introspective and conversational style that has become his signature.
