Christopher Lee

Sir Christopher Frank Carandini Lee was an English actor, singer and author. Born on May 27, 1922, Lee had an illustrious film career that spanned nearly seven decades. Known for his rich, deep voice and imposing presence, he became iconic for his portrayal of villains, most famously as Count Dracula in a sequence of films for Hammer Horror, as Saruman in "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" film trilogies, and as Count Dooku in the "Star Wars" prequel trilogy.

However, in addition to his acting accolades, Christopher Lee also had an extraordinarily eclectic involvement in music. His deep and operatic voice lent itself well to musical storytelling, particularly within the rock and heavy metal genres. Later in his life, Lee released a series of heavy metal albums and singles, showcasing a vibrant creative side beyond his cinematic triumphs. Notable among these are his symphonic metal album "Charlemagne: By the Sword and the Cross" and its follow-up, "Charlemagne: The Omens of Death," which asserted his position as one of the oldest heavy metal performers in history. Lee’s narrations and dramatic readings, captured in releases such as "The Hunchback Of Notre Dame: abridged" and "The Phantom Of The Opera: abridged," displayed his ability to captivate audiences with spoken word, carefully intertwined with musical accompaniment. His music, just like his on-screen roles, was characterized by its power, depth, and theatrical flair—taking fans on epic journeys through sound. Christopher Lee’s passing on June 7, 2015, marked the end of an era, but his legacy lives on, both in film and in music, as a testament to his broad artistic impact.
