Aggrotech

Aggrotech is a high-energy electronic music genre characterized by its aggressive, distorted beats, and often, screamed or growled vocals. Emerging in the mid-1990s, aggrotech evolved from the European industrial and EBM (Electronic Body Music) scenes, heavily influenced by the dark, futuristic sounds of artists like Combichrist and Covenant. The genre's heyday was in the early 2000s, particularly within the goth and industrial club scenes. Aggrotech's cultural significance lies in its raw, emotive expression of anger and frustration, resonating with fans disillusioned with mainstream culture. Distinct from other electronic genres, aggrotech's sonic brutality, coupled with its often provocative lyrics, sets it apart. While sharing similarities with techno and industrial, aggrotech's emphasis on aggression and emotional intensity forges a unique sound that's both cathartic and captivating.
