Champeta

Champeta is an energetic and vibrant music genre that originated in the Caribbean coast of Colombia, particularly in the city of Cartagena, blending African rhythms, Colombian folk music, and elements of dancehall and soca. Characterized by its infectious beats, percolating percussion, and repetitive, catchy guitar riffs, champeta often features vocals with a distinct, rhythmic delivery that tells stories of daily life, both its struggles and celebrations. Its dance is equally dynamic, with hip-swaying movements and agile footwork.
