This genre originated in the Netherlands and Belgium, evolving from hardcore techno and influenced by gabber culture. Classic hardstyle often features screeching synthesizer leads, heavy kick drums, and catchy melodies, with vocals ranging from screamed chants to euphoric, anthemic choruses. At its peak, classic hardstyle dominated the European festival circuit, particularly at events like Qlimax and Defqon.1, fostering a sense of community among fans.
