Coco

Coco, also known as "Coco de roda" or "Samba de Coco," is a lively, percussion-driven Afro-Brazilian music genre that traces its roots to the northeastern coast of Brazil, combining elements of indigenous, African, and Portuguese musical traditions. This energetic style is characterized by its responsive singing, where a lead vocalist sings a refrain and a chorus responds, alongside the vibrant rhythms produced by traditional instruments such as pandeiros, alfaias, agogôs, and the ganzá. The music often accompanies a dance of the same name, which features a stomping motion that mimics the motion of cracking open a coconut on the floor.
