D-beat

D-beat, also known as Discore or kängpunk, is a subgenre of hardcore punk named after the distinct drum beat pattern akin to a rapid "D-D-D-Beat" sound. Rooted in the aggressive, socio-political ethos of punk, and often traced back to UK band Discharge, whose music epitomized the style, it's characterized by relentless, fast-paced rhythms, abrasive guitar riffs, and raw, shouty vocals. The genre typically conveys a sense of urgency and protest, echoing themes of anarchism, anti-war sentiments, and social unrest. D-beat's influence has spread across the world, inspiring bands like Rat Cage and Totalitär to adopt its unyielding sonic assault, and others like Disfear to infuse it with elements of crust punk, thereby creating a legacy that persists in the underground music scene.
