Typically, it’s the storytelling that takes center stage in Kadongo Kamu, with artists conveying poignant messages about social issues, politics, and personal experiences. The music itself usually features minimal instrumentation, traditionally a single guitar, and often includes a percussive element to accompany the storyteller's expressive vocals. While it remains rooted in Ugandan culture, variations have incorporated modern instruments and production techniques.
