Mbalax is a dynamic and eclectic music genre originating from Senegal in the 1970s. Characterized by its fast-paced, polyrhythmic beats and fusion of traditional Wolof and Serer musical elements with Western influences, mbalax is marked by its driving sabar drumming, intricate guitar work, and soaring vocal melodies.
