Emerging in the early 2000s on online platforms, nightcore evolved from the Norwegian DJ duo Thomas S. Nilsen and Håvard Hope's sped-up remixes of trance and eurodance tracks. By the 2010s, nightcore gained popularity worldwide, particularly among young internet users.
