Oi

Oi is a subgenre of punk rock characterized by its energetic and anthemic sound, often featuring simple, catchy melodies, and prominent vocal choruses. Emerging in the late 1970s and early 1980s in the UK, oi music drew inspiration from working-class street culture and football hooliganism, with lyrics frequently addressing themes of social disillusionment and rebellion. As a reaction to the commercialization of punk, oi bands adopted a raw, DIY approach, incorporating elements of rock 'n' roll, pub rock, and street punk.
