Sami music, also known as Sámiid Riikkasearvi, is a traditional and contemporary genre originating from the indigenous Sami people of Northern Scandinavia, Russia, and Finland. Characterized by haunting vocalizations, known as "joiking," and rhythmic percussion, Sami music often features the use of the fadno, a traditional drum, and the guovdageaidnu, a bowed string instrument. Emerging from ancient shamanic and folk traditions, Sami music has evolved into a vibrant, modern genre, incorporating elements of rock, pop, and electronic music.
