Singeli

Singeli is an electrifying, high-energy music genre originating from the streets of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Characterized by its exceptionally fast-paced beats, often exceeding 180 BPM, Singeli fuses traditional Tanzanian music with electronic sounds and contemporary production techniques, resulting in a frenetic, dance-inducing hybrid. The sound showcases rapid-fire vocals and percussive digital syncopation, infusing local styles like taarab and segere with global electronic influences. Though it began as underground music, Singeli has gained a growing international audience, buoyed by the vibrant, raw energy that artists within the genre exude, manifesting a pulsating, sonic tapestry that's both culturally rooted and avant-garde. Its unique flavor and rapid tempos make Singeli a distinct and innovative force in the landscape of African electronic music.
