Enea Scala

Enea Scala is an acclaimed Italian operatic tenor, born in 1979 in Ragusa, Sicily. He specializes in bel canto repertoire and has become internationally known for his performances of Rossini roles like Almaviva and Rinaldo, among others. Scala's passion for opera took hold as a teenager after a school outing to see *Rigoletto*, which inspired him to pursue singing professionally. He honed his craft at the Bologna Conservatory before making his professional debut in 2006. Since then, he has built a strong career performing key bel canto parts as well as branching into more lyric roles by Verdi and Mascagni. His voice is praised for its power, dark timbre, and impressive coloratura agility.

Scala has appeared on many major stages including the Royal Opera House, La Monnaie in Brussels, Oper Frankfurt, and the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. Notable roles include Alfredo in *La Traviata*, the Duke of Mantua in *Rigoletto*, and the title role in Rossini's *Otello*. He continues to expand his repertoire, moving seamlessly between the demanding technicalities of Rossini and the lyrical intensity of Verdi. His recordings with Opera Rara include Bellini operas such as *Zaira*, *Medea in Corinto*, and *Adelson e Salvini*. Scala is admired for combining vocal brilliance with convincing dramatic portrayals, making him a tenor to watch in the opera world.
