**Nathan James** is a Southern California-based blues lifer who’s spent over two decades keeping raw, gritty traditional blues alive with his band the Rhythm Scratchers. A self-taught multi-instrumentalist (guitar, resonator, vocals), he’s rooted in pre-war Delta and Piedmont styles but injects them with a scrappy, no-frills energy that feels right at home in dive bars and juke joints. His recent tracks like *World Don’t Owe Me a Thing* and *Thinkin' Bout Barbecue (Live)* showcase his knack for earthy storytelling and slide guitar chops, while *Crimson Mood* and *Tahquitz Trance* lean into hypnotic, trance-blues grooves. Whether growling through originals or breathing fire into forgotten blues covers, Nathan’s the real deal – a modern troubadour happiest when his boots are dusty and his amp’s cranked.
