Skrew is an industrial metal band that originated in Austin, Texas, in the early 1990s. Founded by Adam Grossman and Danny Lohner, Skrew quickly gained attention for blending aggressive metal riffs with industrial textures and politically charged lyrics. Their debut album, Burning in Water, Drowning in Flame, released in 1992 on Metal Blade Records, established their signature sound and received critical praise within the metal underground for its raw intensity and innovative use of samples and electronic elements.
Over the years, Skrew released a series of albums that pushed the boundaries of industrial and groove metal, including Dusted (1994), Shadow of Doubt (1996), and Angel Seed XXIII (1997). Their music reflects themes of social unrest, war, and media manipulation, making them stand out in the industrial metal scene of the '90s. Though the band went on hiatus in the early 2000s, they have since returned with new material, including the politically charged Universal Immolation, continuing their legacy of uncompromising, confrontational music.
