IV OF SPADES

IV Of Spades is a dynamic Filipino indie rock band that has garnered a dedicated following for their unique fusion of funk, psychedelic rock, and pop. The band, which originally formed in 2014, consisted of lead vocalist and bassist Zild Benitez, lead guitarist Blaster Silonga, and drummer Badjao de Castro. Unique Salonga, the former lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, parted ways with the group in 2018, and the band continued as a trio, with Zild then taking on the lead vocals.

Their sound is characterized by a retro vibe infused with modern sensibilities, evident in the catchy yet sophisticated tracks like "Hey Barbara," and "Where Have You Been, My Disco?" which are homages to the past while being distinctly contemporary. The group reached widespread acclaim with their 2018 hit "Mundo," which showcases their knack for blending compelling lyrics with smooth, melodic instrumentals. Their first album, "CLAPCLAPCLAP!" released in 2019, received positive reviews and added to a growing list of hits including earworms like "In My Prison," and "Take That Man," solidifying their status as a creative force in the OPM (Original Pilipino Music) scene. While navigating the resonances of love, self-reflection, and social consciousness, IV Of Spades continues to evolve, pushing the boundaries of genre and captivating the hearts of fans both in the Philippines and across the globe.
