Exotic Birds

**Exotic Birds** was a synthpop band formed in 1983 in Cleveland, Ohio, by Andy Kubiszewski, Tom Freer, and Tim Adams. The band was known for their catchy synth-pop sound and local success, often opening for notable acts like Culture Club and Eurythmics. One of their most notable members was Trent Reznor, who joined the band in 1985 and played keyboards, programming, and backing vocals. Although Reznor's involvement is often highlighted, he was not a primary songwriter for the band. Exotic Birds released several albums, including *Equilibrium* in 1989, which was later reissued in 1990. The band went through several lineup changes before eventually disbanding.

Andy Kubiszewski remained the core member throughout the band's history, and after Exotic Birds disbanded, he went on to play drums for other notable bands like The The. The band's music, including tracks like "Day After Day" and "Imagination," reflects their contribution to the synth-pop scene of the 1980s. Despite their local fame, Exotic Birds are perhaps best remembered today for their connection to Trent Reznor, who later achieved international success with Nine Inch Nails.
