R5 was an American pop rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, consisting of siblings Riker, Rocky, Ross, and Rydel Lynch, along with their close friend Ellington Ratliff. The group gained popularity in the early 2010s with their energetic blend of pop, rock, and dance elements, winning over fans through catchy hooks and charismatic performances. They released their debut EP, Loud, in 2013, followed by their first full-length album, Louder, the same year. Standout tracks like "Pass Me By" and "Loud" helped push them into the spotlight, especially among younger audiences.
Their 2015 sophomore album, Sometime Last Night, marked a shift toward a more mature sound, with singles like "Smile" and "All Night" showcasing growth both musically and lyrically. R5 developed a strong fanbase through extensive touring and appearances on Disney Channel, aided by Ross Lynch’s acting role in the network’s show Austin & Ally. After releasing their 2017 EP New Addictions, the band eventually transitioned into a new musical direction, with brothers Ross and Rocky Lynch forming a duo called The Driver Era in 2018.
