Salvatore Carchiolo is a distinguished Italian harpsichordist and musicologist known for his expertise in Baroque keyboard music. Born in 1962 in Sicily, he studied harpsichord and historical keyboards at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and the Sweelinck Conservatorium in Amsterdam under Bob van Asperen, earning a concert diploma. He has performed extensively across Europe, North America, and Asia, collaborating with leading Baroque ensembles such as Europa Galante, Accademia Bizantina, Il Giardino Armonico, and Concerto Italiano. Carchiolo has also made numerous recordings for prestigious labels including RCA-BMG and Deutsche Harmonia Mundi.
Beyond performing, Salvatore Carchiolo is active as a musicologist and educator, holding a professorship at the Catania Conservatory and having taught in several other Italian conservatories.
