Noemi Gyori

Noémi Győri is a London-based Hungarian flutist celebrated for her vibrant tone, technical brilliance, and adventurous spirit across both modern and Baroque flute repertoire. Born in 1983, she’s not only a sought-after soloist and chamber musician, having performed in over 30 countries with top orchestras like the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and the Hungarian National Philharmonic, but also a dedicated teacher—holding positions at the Royal Northern College of Music and the University of Manchester. Noémi made history as the first flutist to earn a PhD in Flute Performance from the Royal Academy of Music in London, where her research focused on reimagining the flute and guitar duo through Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven’s keyboard works. Her innovative approach shines in recent releases like Exploration, which features fresh takes on Schubert, Blahetka, Beethoven, and Borne, as well as her recordings of Debussy’s “Syrinx” and collaborative albums highlighting both classic and contemporary works.

In addition to her performing and teaching, Noémi is a champion of new music, regularly premiering concertos and pieces written for her, and she co-founded the IKZE Contemporary Music Festival in Budapest. She’s earned accolades including the European Cultural Prize for Young Artists (2011) and the Career Prize from the Salon de Virtuosi Foundation in New York (2012). Balancing her busy career with family life in London—where she lives with her conductor husband Gergely Madaras and their two daughters—she also launched the Noémi Collection, a line of art objects created with leading designers. Whether she’s tackling a Mozart quartet, a Borne fantasy, or a brand-new commission, Noémi brings curiosity, playfulness, and deep musicality to every project.
