Blue Zoo

Blue Zoo is a British new wave band that originated in 1980 under the name Modern Jazz. The band consisted of Andy Overall (vocals), Tim Parry (guitar), Micky Sparrow (drums), and initially Chris Broderick on bass, who was later replaced by Mike Ansell. They gained popularity with their hit single "Cry Boy Cry," which reached No. 13 on the UK charts in 1982. Their debut album, "2 By 2," was released in 1983 and included other notable tracks like "I’m Your Man" and "Forgive & Forget." The band's sound blended new wave with pop elements, drawing comparisons to acts like ABC and Associates. Despite their early success, Blue Zoo disbanded but reformed in 2010 without Tim Parry, adding new members Tom E Morrison and Graham Noone.

Blue Zoo's history includes a few notable collaborations and performances. They worked with producer Tim Friese-Greene, who later became a key figure in Talk Talk. The band also performed alongside notable acts like U2 before they rose to fame. Although their initial run was short-lived, Blue Zoo's music left a lasting impression on the new wave scene of the early 1980s. Their reformation in 2010 marked a new chapter for the band, with plans for live performances and new music. The album "2 By 2" has been reissued, allowing fans to revisit their classic sound.
