Afrobeats
Afrobeats is a vibrant, eclectic genre born from the fusion of traditional Yoruba music, jazz, fuji, and soul with elements of Western pop and electronic music. Characterized by infectious, polyrhythmic grooves, percussive horn sections, and catchy, layered vocal harmonies, afrobeats blends energetic, danceable beats with introspective, socially conscious lyrics. Emerging in 1960s Nigeria, the genre evolved through the 1970s and 1980s, influenced by artists like Fela Kuti and King Sunny Adé.
