Melbourne Bounce

Melbourne Bounce is a high-energy electronic dance music genre characterized by its driving rhythms, often between 128-130 BPM, and distinctive "bouncy" basslines, typically produced using a combination of heavy, distorted synthesizers and pulsing kick drums. Emerging in the early 2010s in Melbourne, Australia, the genre evolved from the city's thriving club scene, influenced by Dutch house and electro house styles. By 2013-2015, Melbourne Bounce had gained international recognition, with its prominent use of catchy, often simplistic melodies and vocal hooks, frequently incorporating elements of hip-hop and trap. The genre's cultural significance lies in its contribution to the global EDM explosion, with its infectious energy and accessibility helping to fuel the rise of festivals and large-scale club events. While sharing similarities with other EDM sub-genres, Melbourne Bounce is distinct in its emphasis on raw, unbridled energy and its tendency to blend humorous, playful elements with its otherwise intense sound.
