Pierre Gallon is a French harpsichordist, organist, and fortepianist born on March 27, 1986, in Falaise, Normandy, into a musical family—his dad Pascal plays lute, and his brother François is a cellist. Growing up surrounded by instruments, he fell in love with the harpsichord around age 9 or 10, studying at the Caen Conservatory with Bibiane Lapointe and Thierry Maeder before heading to the Paris Conservatoire in 2006, where he graduated with top honors in 2010 under Olivier Baumont and Blandine Rannou.
Influenced by masters like Blandine Verlet, Elisabeth Joyé, and Pierre Hantaï, Pierre thrives in both solo gigs and ensemble work, serving as principal harpsichordist for Raphaël Pichon's Pygmalion (with over 30 recordings) alongside groups like Ensemble Correspondances and Le Poème Harmonique. His solo debut on Pierre Attaingnant wowed critics, leading to festival spots at La Roque-d’Anthéron, Saintes, and more, plus albums like Haydn solo works, Lieder with soprano Alice Foccroulle on fortepiano, and recent collabs on Bach harpsichord concertos with Le Caravansérail—he even joined Harmonia Mundi in 2024.
