Sleep
Sleep is an American doom metal band from San Jose, California. The band is known for their influential stoner metal sound and lengthy, heavy compositions that draw heavily from Black Sabbath's musical style. Formed in the late 1980s, the band consisted of guitarist Matt Pike, bassist/vocalist Al Cisneros, and drummer Chris Hakius. They released seminal albums like "Holy Mountain" and the legendary hour-long single-track album "Dopesmoker", which became a cult classic in the metal underground. Though they initially disbanded in the late 1990s, they reunited in the 2000s and have continued to perform and record intermittently since then.
