Fog Lake

Fog Lake is the brainchild of Canadian singer-songwriter Aaron Powell, who began crafting his lo-fi, atmospheric brand of music in the small town of Glovertown, Newfoundland. Powell adopted the moniker Fog Lake in 2012 and initially gained attention for the intimate and emotive qualities of his recordings, which blend elements of indie rock, ambient music, and dream pop. Fog Lake's sound has been characterized by its melancholic melodies, ethereal soundscapes, and Powell's introspective lyricism, often dealing with themes of nature, nostalgia, and personal tribulation.

Despite its humble origins, Fog Lake quickly garnered an international following, with Powell's ability to evoke profound emotion through minimalist arrangements striking a chord with listeners worldwide. Albums like "Dragonchaser" and "Captain" showcase Fog Lake's evolution from lo-fi beginnings to more substantial, immersive productions. With the release of songs like "Carousel" and "Midnight Society," Powell continues to refine his sonic palette, exploring darker themes and textures, while "where are you now" and its subsequent DJ Planet Express Remix highlight his music's adaptability to different interpretations. Fog Lake has become synonymous with deeply personal and evocative music that resonates with a sense of longing and introspection.
